Why I love Carbonite backup sevice

Carbonite is such a cool service! And it's unbelievably cheap!

It costs $54.95 a YEAR and it does not matter how much stuff you back up. I have 200 gigabytes stored on Carbonite and adding to it every time I save a file on my computer. It's up to 210,000 files I have backed up.

Here's how it works: Sign up with Carbonite (click the button below for a free 15 day trial). Then install a small program on your computer by clicking a couple of things on the Carbonite web site. That's it! It really is. Carbonite will automatically start backing up every document, photo, email, everything but programs running on your computer. And it's all encrypted...twice, so it is still secure.

It runs in the background and only does it's thing while your Internet connection is idle, like when you are reading a web page or typing an email. It does not slow down your computer or Internet use. You really will not notice it is running!

You don't have to do anything. You do not have to start a backup, make sure it ran okay, delete old backups,etc. You do nothing! It just works.

Let's suppose your house burned down and you lost your computer and all your backup CDs. With Carbonite all you have to do (after rebuilding your house and buying a new computer) is go to the Carbonite web site, sign in and tell it to restore your hard drive. All your pictures, emails, etc. will be automatically put on your new hard drive...complete with the directories! Your stuff will be just where you would have had it before the fire!

Here's another thing I really like: Suppose you are working on a document every night this week and saving it as you go. Except tonight your cat walked across your keyboard and you didn't see it. You then saved your document like always. Oops! Your cat's poetry just replaced your hard work! Your recycle bin won't help, because you haven't deleted the file, you just updated it.

Here's how Carbonite will fix everything: Every time you save your document, Carbonite makes a NEW COPY under a new name. So all you have to do is go to your My Computer screen and right click on the Carbonite "drive" and navigate to the cat's document, right click on it and Carbonite will give you a choice of previous versions to restore. Is that cool or what!
