Q. Are
these different from your regular ornaments I see on
another part of your web site?
A. These ornaments differ
from my regular
ornaments only in that I cut the original
photo you send instead of printing a copy. Many cards
have exquisit textures and adornments that would be
lost if I reproduced them. So plan on NOT RECEIVING
YOUR CARDS OR PHOTOS BACK as I will be cutting them. Ornaments made from cards are the same price as my regular ornaments. ORDER HERE
Q. What about cards that have a photo glued to them?
A. Some cards have the photo stuck to the card and
some have the photo printed on the card itself. No
matter, as I can usually remove the photo from the
card. If not, I will either use the card-photo sandwich
or I will scan the image and print a copy I can use...unless the photo was made by a professional photographer. In that case I can't use it unless you can get a copyright release. This very seldom happens.
Q. How will you know what to do with each card? Some
have multiple photos.
A. If you have special
requests, put them on a Post-it note and attach to
the card. Many
cards have photos on both sides, so I need to know
which photo you
want to use, or if you want to use both. I
make the ornaments
out the actual cards you send so I will scan the back
side and make
the 2nd ornament from that copy.
Q. How do I know which size to order?
A.The size is based on the final size of the finished ornament - not counting the ribbon: If the cutout will fit within a 4" square, it is a 4 inch ornament. If the cutout won't fit within the 4" square, it is considered a 6" ornament. Some are larger than 6", but I consider them 6 inch anyway. The easiest way is to just guess at the number and place your order and send your cards. I will then get back to you with the actual count and adjust your order to match.
Q. What about those cards with overlapping photos
or photos that are enclosed by a border?
A. Some photo cards can't be cut out in the usual sense
where I remove the
background. An example is a card with the pictures
of 3 kids, each
with a head shot in it's own square frame, and placed
so the frames
touch or even overlap each other. In that case I cut
around the outer
edge of the frames. A few cards have very small photos
- those I usually cut as a rectangle without the normal
sculpting of a cutout.
Q. How do I get the cards to you?
A. Just drop them in the mail to me. Priority Mail
is usually the easiest and cheapest if they weigh more than about 10 ounces. The Post
Office will even give you a box! Remember that
I will be cutting your cards so you will NOT receive
them back. Send to...
